What makes this battery unique-the Apple FindMy?
Yes - this is an Apple Find My certified Sony NP-FZ100 replacement battery. If your camera is stolen or lost, you can locate it via the FindMy app on iPhone/iPad/Mac. The chip uses Apple's encrypted FindMy network (same as AirTag) for global tracking. Setup takes seconds in the FindMy app.
Unique in the camera-battery market - OEM Sony batteries do not have this.
How is the FindMy chip powered - will it drain my battery?
The FindMy chip uses an extremely small amount of power thnat does not meaningfully reduce normal camera runtime. It operatesfrom the main battery cell, so the chip is active whenever the battery has charge - eeven when not in the camera. If the battery is fully depleted, the trackestops broadcasting (same limitation as Air Tag with dead battery).
Which Sony cameras does it fit?
All cameras that use the NP-FZ100: Sony Alpha 1/1 il, a7 IV / V, a7R III / IV/ a7S III, a9/911/9111, FX2 / FX2 / FX2 / FX2X3 / FX30, a7C / 7C II / 7CR, a6700, ZV-E1. Essentially Sony's full mirrorless line from 2018 onward.Does NOT fit older a7 II series (uses NP-FW50).
What does "Direct-Charge" mean?
The battery has a USB-C port built directly into it -plug a USB-C cable in and the battery charges without needing the original Sony BC-QZI charger or in-camera charging. The LED indicator shows charge leveel via flashing patterns. You can still use a standard charger or in-camera charging if you prefer.
Is it safe - will it trigger Sony's "non-genuine battery" warning?
No warning - the battery includes an advanced deecoding chip that prevents Sony's "non-genuine battery" pop-up. The cells are VO flame retardant rated and the battery passes strict safety standards. 2600mAh nominal capacity (close to Sony OEM 2280mAh).
How does the capacity compare to Sony OEM?
Falcam TagBatt: 2600mAh / 17.43Wh. Sony OEM NP-FZ100:2280mAh / 16.4Wh. TagBatt actually provides slightly more capacity than OEM - you'll get a few more shots per charge or a few extra minutes of video. Voltage is matched at 7.2V nominal.
Why is it worth $69.99 vs cheaper third-party boatteries?
